     2011 GREEK FESTIVAL NEWS

Temecula Greek Festival 2011 a Huge Success!

“Incredible dancing! Delicious! Excellent! Beautiful culture! Absolutely tender! I love baklava! Extraordinary! This is so much fun! Coming back next year!”

These were the words I heard over and over and over during the festival and in the following days too. What a celebration Team Festival organized along with the Philoptochos ladies: Phofy, Marci, Georgina, Vasso and several volunteers, donors, and our parish! In addition, a well-deserved thank you for their commitment to excellence in producing this grand event goes to my co-chair Angela Woodend, Stephanie Randazzo, Lynda Schmidt, Diana Theophilos, and Maria Michael for all of your hard work and commitment to this event. It wouldn’t have been possible without all of you. I truly believe that we are a blessed community to have these awesome women of Team Festival working so diligently to create good will within the Temecula and Murrieta communities! Thank you for your time and effort. It truly is appreciated! God bless all of you,

Kathleen P. Hatcher, 2011 Festival Chair

SUNDAY SCHOOL NEWS

We have begun a blessed year of Sunday School here at St. Nick! I am pleased to say that this year has taken off without a hitch. We now have two classrooms, as well as a new teacher, Mrs. Melinda Fields. Our classes accommodate children ages: preschool (accompanied with a parent/guardian) to 6th grade. Our curriculum includes weekly lessons based off of the Orthodox calendar as well as projects and crafts. Soon we will begin with Fr. Costas’ sermonettes, where the children are given a chance to show the congregation what they have learned. Once again, I must ask that any willing parent volunteers come into the Sunday School room and sign up for a voluntary project! Any parents with musical talents or skills of any kind are encouraged to volunteer their time. As always, I wish you all a blessed week filled with the love and compassion that we find only through Christ, our true King and God.

GREEK SCHOOL IS FUN!

Hey, wonder where most of our words in the English language come from? Did you know most of our root words are based on the Greek language? Also, did you know that the original scriptures were written in the Greek language? Or are you thinking about traveling to Greece soon and would like to be able to converse with the natives? Well then, come and learn one of the most beautiful and educational languages in the world: Greek, with Kieros George Bitsanes. Classes meet every Thursday evening in the church hall at 6:00pm sharp.
